Nonprofits increasingly explore partnerships, strategic alliances, and mergers as ways to advance their missions and strengthen their impact. This session examines the legal and practical considerations involved when organizations decide to work more closely together, from informal collaborations to full organizational combinations.
Participants will learn how to:
- Understand the strategic, financial, and mission-driven reasons nonprofits pursue collaborations and mergers.
- Navigate key state law, regulatory, and federal tax-exemption considerations.
- Conduct effective due diligence, manage negotiations, and address common legal and operational challenges.
- Evaluate the full spectrum of collaboration and combination options to support organizational goals.
