Extra, Extra! Hear All About Using Newspapers for Local History and Genealogical Research

Local newspaper collections are a trove of valuable information for all kinds of historical research. Find out more about how Columbus Metropolitan Library makes these publications available to customers, including the Columbus Dispatch, the Columbus Call & Post, and many others. Librarian Eugene Rutigliano will also provide tips for finding historical articles in popular newspaper databases.

Get a behind-the-scenes look at our archival storage areas in the mysterious lower level of Main Library! Explore our archival collections and learn more about archives and their importance to history researchers on this staff-led tour. You’ll discover rare books, oversize items, and unique collections like the Columbus City Schools Desegregation papers of Joseph L. Davis, the Buckeye Steel collection, local family photographs and more.
Plus:
- Our Local History and Genealogy team will be here to scan photos and documents to be added to our digital collection My History and accept loans and donations for our archives.
- Visit our pop-up exhibit stations, featuring items from our archives.
- View our traveling exhibits, on display at Main Library for this weekend only.
Seating is first come, first served. Free Parking is available in the garage attached to Main Library.
