An evening to honor and thank CML Volunteers for their work in 2025.
The 2026 CML Volunteer Celebration will honor service performed in 2025. The annual celebration thanks and acknowledges volunteers for their work in all CML locations for the previous year. A reception with refreshments is followed by a short presentation about CML, an author keynote and an award presentation to volunteers.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Savanna Flakes is an award-winning author, speaker, and education consultant whose work centers on inclusion, literacy, and the power of belonging. Through her writing and professional work, she helps children and educators see ability before labels and possibility before limitation. Savanna provides professional development and coaching to school communities on effective instructional practices for students with disabilities. Savanna has been recognized as a TEDx Speaker, EdTech Magazine’s 2025 Top 30 K-12 IT Influencers, a National Board-Certified Exceptional Needs Specialist, and a recipient of the U.S. Department of Education White House Outstanding Educator Award. Her bestselling book for educators, Shaking Up Special Education: Instructional Moves to Increase Achievement, has been recognized among the “100 Best Selling Special Education Books of All Time” and is used by schools across the country to strengthen inclusive practices. Her children’s book, I Have Special Needs AND That’s Not Why I’m Special, invites young readers to celebrate their strengths, foster self-advocacy skills, and understand that differences are something to honor. Savanna is working to utilize her education and passion to positively impact the lives of schools, teachers, and children by sharing effective inclusive practices to reach diverse learners.
