Meeting Rooms 1 and 2Join Gregory L. Edmonds to explore historical African American inventors and their everyday modern creations. Mr. Edmonds shares surprising stories behind these impactful innovations.
Acclaim was sometimes elusive for inventors working under government or corporate employers. As a condition of employment, they were usually required to sign a release relinquishing their rights of ownership and profit. With no patent number or other record of possession, it is difficult to discern the degree of credit an innovator deserves. A person of color faced even more hurdles to receive credit due to racism.
In terms of modern times, the collective work of African American contributors to science and invention is so extensive that it is impossible to live a full day in any part of the world without experiencing the benefits of their ingenuity. Gregory Edmonds will tell you about some of these impactful inventions that will no doubt surprise you.
